Evaluate options and provide solutions for a portable, persistent data cloud.
- Requirements:
- fully decentralized operation possible
- free and open-source software only
- portability and transfer to other devices or environments as the normal mode of operation
- Implementation:
- Syncthing and Nextcloud, possibly OpenCloud
- the solution can run on any device (local PC, data-center server, Raspberry Pi)
- Abstraction and reference implementation via Kubernetes.
- Templates, how-tos and reference implementations are tested and provided within the project, using Kubernetes.
- Kubernetes is optional!
- Variable isolation and collaboration options, depending on the scenario
- maximum isolation:
- internal / intranet only, no sharing possible
- gradually up to rights management delegable to arbitrary users, using Nextcloud's built-in functionality
- Replication and backup paradigm:
- once the data pool's private key has been unlocked successfully, a further ready-to-operate node can be replicated automatically, provided another node is reachable on the same network.
- maximum isolation:
- Syncthing and Nextcloud, possibly OpenCloud
